The GIRLGAMER Sydney Festival as part of VIVID at Chatswood Sydney is an exciting and unique event celebrating the achievements of women in gaming, esports and industry. The live tournament will see players battle it out on stage, where they will compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Blizzard’s Overwatch and Super Smash Bros.

The two-day festival will also feature keynote speakers from leading women in the industry, discussion panels, a careers alley, sponsor activations and gaming zones.

With the support of Willoughby City Council, The Concourse at Chatswood is opening its doors to host the GIRLGAMER Sydney Festival and will transform itself to reflect the GIRLGAMER colours and the creative world of video games.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Win our CS:GO Tournament and qualify for the GIRLGAMER WORLD FINALS later this year!

Open to female teams with at least 3 players residing in Oceania. 16+ years to compete.

An Online Qualification will select the teams that will be competing in Sydney. Flights and Accommodation in Sydney will be provided to the selected teams.

Prize Pool:

  • 1st Place – Flights and Accommodation to the WORLD FINALS
  • 2nd Place – 750 AUD

    GIRLGAMER 2019: CSGO Qualifiers on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive | Mogul

    Playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in a 5 vs. 5 mode, starting on Sunday, May 19, 2019! There are currently 0 of 64 participants competing for bragging rights and more. This tournament is free to enter.

    How to Register as a Team Captain

    1. Create an account on the Mogul website.
    2. Register your steam account under the GAMES tab for CSGO which can be found by clicking on ‘My Profile’.
    3. As the team Captain, click the TEAMS tab and create your team.
    a. Set a Team Name and create a join code.
    4. Once other members of your team have an account on Mogul, you as the team captain will be able to search and invite them from within the team you setup.
    5. Once you have 5 members in your team (no subs allowed), you can join the GIRLGAMER tournament by submitting the pre organised team.

    How to Register as a Player

    Overwatch Tournament

    Assemble your team and join our Overwatch competition! Open to female teams of any nationality who are 16+ years of age.

    An online qualifier will select teams to advance and compete live in Sydney, Australia. Please note selected teams from the online qualifier will need to cover their own travel expenses.

    Jump into the action and prove your fighting skills!
    Open to all genders and nationalities who are 10+ years of age. Venue ticket purchase is required to compete, with a percentage of the ticket sales going towards the smash prize pools.

    Female smash players will also have the opportunity to partake in a show match on Sunday 10th June. Those who are interested in partaking should also register themselves in the female tournament on the Tournament Website.

    Mixed Prize Pool:

  • 1st Place – 200 AUD
  • 2nd Place – 100 AUD

    Cosplay Competition

    We welcome Cosplayers of all levels to join our cosplay competition!

    Whether it’s your first time or you’re a cosplay veteran, why not come along and give it a go!?

  • Open to all ages
  • No experience necessary
  • Not restricted to game themed cosplays
  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place

  • Props over the size of 1.5 meters in length are not permitted into the arena unless competing in the cosplay competition.
  • Props made from metal or glass or can be deemed dangerous in anyway are not permitted.
  • Props that will become unwieldy during the day are not permitted. Please keep in mind the weight of your prop and costume for not just yourself but others around you.
  • No projectiles are permitted. Any prop/toy capable of projectile must not be loaded.
  • ALL firearm related props must have an orange or red painted tip. (taped or painted is fine)
  • Cosplay is NOT consent. Please help us keep a safe and harassment free festival for everyone. If you feel uncomfortable or harassed in any way, please do not hesitate in talking to one of our staff members who will be able to assist you.
